Bonnie Belt
A fascination with nature and trees has dominated most of my 30-year career in art. I attended ceramics courses at college, later studying Chinese brush painting from which I learned the subtleties of brushwork and the Chinese philosophy that influences my work. The natural world and respect for nature is the primary focus of my life and art. My functional ceramic work uses the Chinese "four gentlemen," bamboo, plum blossom, grass orchid and chrysanthemum designs. Each piece is hand formed, on the potters wheel or slab roller, and hand painted by me in a durable underglaze.
