Obisidian Windchimes

We arrange obsidian shards, seedpods, cones, flowers, and wood with visual and tonal beauty in mind. We find these specimens throughout the Western states and are greatly influenced by the environment where each piece is gathered.

Obsidian is a glassy rock: lava that has cooled rapidly upon reaching the surface. We use naturally occurring needles, shards of obsidian found in layers under the ground in varying degrees of thickness and lengths. These are most commonly found in the margins of the Great Basin in the high desert of Eastern Oregon and other Northwest volcanic sites.
